Tablebed receives Fennia Prize 22 Honourable Mention as a pioneer of smart space utilization

Tablebed Double White as a table in the living room
Innovative TABLEBED, multifunctional patented design furniture from Finland, receives Fennia Prize 22 Honourable Mention as a pioneer of smart space utilization with its one-of-kind design.

These days, it is more a rule than an exception that a single space needs to serve multiple different purposes. No matter the location, home, summer house, office, or hotel room, the basic needs such as eating, sleeping, working, and relaxing are always desired to be as an option to carry out – the more comfortable, the better.

Patented design innovation TABLEBED enables all these actions to be done on the same spot – using the same floor coverage. As multifunctional furniture, TABLEBED can be transformed from a table into a bed in 10 seconds. The transformation is a simple, smooth movement that can be performed by one person.

Tablebed received Fennia Prize 22 Honourable Mention as a pioneer of smart space utilization with its one-of-kind design.

On Wednesday 4th May 2022, Tablebed received Fennia Prize 22 Honourable Mention at Glasshouse Helsinki. Fennia Prize rewards companies and organizations that use design extensively in their business. Fennia Prize is organized by Design Forum Finland and Fennia together with the National Board of Patents and Registration (PRH) – National Board of Patents and Registration and Elo.

Fennia Prize 22 Honourable Mention is a prestigious acknowledgment for Tablebed in addition to the last November when Tablebed received international recognition by TIME Magazine.

Functionality and design effortlessly together

Design Forum Finland refers to TABLEBED as a design furniture innovation that combines the real need and the idea successfully together – simply and in a clever way. The product’s minimal and timeless design has been one of the most important features since the beginning when Dine Renfors came up with the idea of TABLEBED and started to work on the first prototypes in the barn at his childhood home in Kimito Island.

“When TABLEBED is opened, it often creates a WOW-effect due to the furniture’s simple and minimal design that hides the other function of furniture perfectly within. Are you then dining at the table or sleeping on a bed, you might not even know about furniture’s other functionality before the transformation happens. The innovation also has its own storage possibility for bedding, increasing the space-saving characteristic of furniture,” Tablebed CEO Kristian Sällström describes.

The megatrend of urbanization has created a new higher value for efficiency and functionality in everyone’s day-to-day life and Tablebed wants to be a part of enabling those needs – both in private homes and the hospitality businesses.

“As the Fennia Prize is one of Finland’s most significant design competitions, it is a great honor for the whole Tablebed team that the hard work is recognized with Fennia Prize 22 Honourable Mention. This shows that our design identity of combining functionality with minimalistic design works and the recognition will support us on our mission to become the next design success from Finland,” Sällström says.

TABLEBED is presented at Design Forum Finland Awards exhibition at Glasshouse Helsinki, Aleksanterinkatu 13 from 5 to 28 May 2022. Opening hours are on Tue-Fri (11-18) and Sat (11-17). Entry is free of charge.
